Costcutter League club Llandysul have appointed Gwynfor Edwards as manager in succession to Chris Coco Davies who has joined Carmarthen Stars.

Last season 35-year-old Edwards, who lives in Llanelli, was head coach at Pontarddulais Town in the Carmarthenshire League and was also a coach in the Academy at Welsh League Division One club Llanelli Town.

The media adviser's playing career was a short one due to work commitments but the knowledgeable Edwards has shown great prowess on the

coaching front.

After his appointment to the hot seat at Llandysul, the new man, who a few seasons ago had a successful spell as head coach of Kidwelly Town, said he was eagerly looking forward to the new challenge.

As he prepared for his first training session the amicable boss said: "I am very impressed at the set-up at Llandysul where there is huge potential."

Asked if he had any plans to bring in new players he said: "I will have a look at what is needed and everyone will be given a chance.

"I'm looking forward to the season and hopefully winning some silverware," he said.

The ambitious Teifi Valley club, winners of the J Emrys Morgan Cup and Costcutter champions two seasons ago, have arranged a number of pre-season friendlies, including games against Llanelli Town and Spar Mid Wales League club Bow Street.

Training sessions at Llandysul Park are at 2pm on Sunday, starting this weekend, and a warm welcome is extended to old and new players.
