CARDIGAN Town Football Club held its annual dinner at Cardigan Golf recently and it was one of the most enjoyable and informal for a number of years.

With so many promising youngsters, last season was always going to be challenging but with team manager Ceri Adams-Lewis at the helm they excelled themselves and with some key results going against them, it did not always reflect how close they were to finishing in the top half of the table.

Awards were presented by team manger Adams-Lewis and record-breaking manager of previous season Seamus Doherty who, along with club chairman and sponsor Robert Davies, thanked manager Ceri for his monumental task which he undertook in the season.

Award winners were Josh Mellor (top scorer/player of the year) while players’ player of the year was won by captain Ben Davies and young player of the year was exciting youngster Llion Williams.

The next challenge for the club is to secure the services of a new manager for the 18/19 season, with Adams-Lewis stepping down after two years at the helm due to work and family commitments.

But with the continued sponsorship and the services yet again of a team bus for the forthcoming season compliments of RDM Llechryd, the club has a lot to offer any prospective manager.

The search for a replacement will not be an easy one but chairman Robert Davies is positive about the club’s future.

He said: “We will wait until we find the right person. We are fortunate enough to have two previous managers on the committee who, along with other committee members’ main concern is to secure last season’s squad and add to it.

“We hope and wish that players who took a year out from the club will return to add strength and experience to one of the most promising group of youngsters seen at the club for years.”

Taking the opportunity to start the search, Robert has asked that any prospective contact himself or committee members via email at rdmgarage2@hotmail.co.uk, or telephone 07976 560337 or 07896 153601.
