On a day when only two local games beat the weather Costcutter League Division One leaders Lampeter Town strolled into round two of Cwpan Coffa Dai Dynamo Davies after burying the Division Two students of the town's St David's University College under a 15 goal avalanche while reigning First Division champions Llandysul reached the last eight of the Easter Monday League Cup with a 7-3 win over visitors Dewi Stars.

Throughout a tenure of just over ten years Lampeter manager Terry Jones, who has brought unprecedented success, has constantly introduced youngsters and the boss did likewise across the town at the College Fields during the second half with the high-flyers leading by 11 goals.

The substitutes showed the undoubted bright future facing the North Road club.

For unbeaten Town front-runner and leading marksman Jason Jones, who starred for the league select side at Aberystwyth in midweek, was again on fire as he found the net on six occasions.

The other goals came via Robert Slawkowski, Marc Evans, Terry Witts and Tom Willoughby who bagged a brace apiece and the other was netted by impressive midfielder Christy Gale.

Another prepared to give youth its head is Llandysul boss Chris Coco Davies, hit recently by the departure of five regulars but confidently putting his trust in his young charges.

The gaffer included no fewer than five 16-year-olds against Stars and his young charges came up trumps as they led by six goals at the break and took the passage without much ado.

For the cock-a-hoop Swallows Lewis Jones helped himself to a hat-trick and there were two goals apiece for Josh Baker and Barry Hughes.
