Llandysul was selected to hold the British Canoe Slalom Championships this year, with hundreds of competitors from across Britain competing.
Sam Bryant, of Llandysul Paddlers and a member of the Wales team, came 10th in the K1 Men's Division 1.
Another local canoe star Lili Bryant was also competing in the British Junior Championship and Pan Celtic Cup.
Lili, aged 15 and a pupil at Ysgol Bro Teifi, has been competing in the Olympic sport of canoe slalom since she was five. She reached division one at the age of 11 and was selected to join the Welsh squad.
Her commitment has paid off tremendously. She was promoted to the Premier Division during 2016, and 2017 has been an amazing year of achievement for her. She was selected by Canoe Wales to paddle for Wales in the five-week European Championships at Augsberg (Germany), Flattach (Austria), Italy, Krakow (Poland) and finally in the Czech Republic where her many years of total commitment paid off.
Lili gained second place and was on the podium next to the World champion.
