There was a feeling of shock in local football circles after Costcutter League Division One club Cilgerran Rovers pulled out of the league due to a lack of players.
The disappointing news about the Rovers senior side, who played at Parc Y Dre, was confirmed at the annual general meeting of the Costcutter League at Ffostrasol.
It is understood that half a dozen or so players had gone elsewhere and it was not viable for the club to continue.
The club hopes to continue to field junior teams.
