LLANDYSUL held out for a draw against Llanelli in Division One of the South Wales Cricket Association at Stradey Park.
The Teifisiders are currently seventh in the table and will be looking to get a result at home against mid-table Gowerton this Saturday to avoid sliding towards the drop zone.
Having won the toss Llandysul skipper Darrel Griffiths put the opposition in and could have had reservations about the decision as the home batsmen posted an imposing 240-8 in the allotted 50 overs.
Opener Marcus Leaf was the mainstay as he went after the bowling from the word go, his innings of 75 including eight fours and four towering sixes.
The classy right-handed batsman lost opening partner Andrew Richards for a duck but Iwan Rees clouted the bowling for a fine inning of 47 and Dyfrig Richards at number four was also in great form as he made 67 (eight fours and two sixes).
Medium pacer Iestyn Evans took four wickets but his ten overs cost 53 runs while Ieuan Paske and Arfon Jones snapped two wickets apiece.
In the Llandysul reply former Ammanford opener Rhydian Harries went for 16 but Tom Wilson at number five made a stylish 60 which included five fours and four sixes while skipper Griffiths at number six contributed 17.
Daniel Thomas and Iestyn Evans saw their side to a draw as the innings closed on 131-7.
Alex Symmons picked up for wickets for Llanelli.
