Producing a performance full of battling qualities Crannog upset the odds with a 3-2 win over Bargod Rangers in the Costcutter League Cup final at Aberaeron on Easter Monday.

The league’s centrepiece game did not reach any great heights but five goals and an abundance of thrills and spills kept a sizeable crowd entertained throughout the 90 minutes.

Crannog took the lead after half an hour when a Huw Reed free kick bounced in front of goalkeeper Joe Turner and went into the net via the underside of the crossbar.

The advantage was doubled soon afterwards through midfielder Owain Thomas who won a clash with the goalkeeper.

To their credit Rangers refused to capitulate and halved the deficit before the break through Rhydian Davies.

Ten minutes after the restart and it was back to square one after Dion Phillips scrambled the ball past Huw Morgan.

It was nip and tuck for the remainder of the contest but it was the coastal villagers who had the final say three minutes from the end when winger George Colven netted to start the Crannog celebrations.
