THE future of Cardigan Rugby Club is in the very best of hands – that is the clear message from the King George V club as the junior section blossoms with two teams set to take their places in cup finals.

The club runs six teams from Under 8s to Under 15s with enthusiasm high among coaches, managers, first aiders and supporting parents.

Officials are already looking forward to next season with the emphasis on encouraging children to take up the sport. Registration day is to take place during the summer holidays – the date will be announced later and further information can be obtained from Dyfed Edwards (tel: 07970 594748).

Congratulations are extended to the Under 14s coached by former club hooker Neal Morris and Under 12s under coach Dyfed Phillips, who have reached their respective Pembrokeshire Cup finals to be held at the Lewis Lloyd ground in Narberth on Sunday, May 1 – Under 12s kick off 12pm and Under 14s kick off 2.30pm.

At the semi-final stage the team won 53-0 against Fishguard with tries coming via Callum Williams, Brynley Morris, Dafydd Davies, Oliver Leeming, Rhun Phillips, Craig Morris, Liam Preston-Harries, Zach Harrison-Little and Kieran Osmond. Conversions were by Dafydd Davies and Rhun Phillips.

The Under 12s were also in impressive form during the semi-final when springing a 40-7 win over Milford Haven.

Skipper Cai Ifans led the try scoring with a hat-trick, centre Deri Morris bagged a brace and the other score came from winger Steffan Davies with the remainder of the points from the boot of fullback Tomos Tomkinson.
