An Aberporth teenager has been aiming high while representing his country this summer.
Sam Young, aged 15, represented Wales in Archery shooting in the Recurve bow style at the Commonwealth Junior Archery Championships for Europe (incorporating Euronations) in Llanharan Recreational Grounds near Cardiff in August.
This was the first time Sam has represented Wales in the sport and he hopes to do so again later this year in the indoor season.
Team Wales ended up 3rd overall with the Recurve team also ending up third.
Sam is a member of The Castle Archers club, based in Newcastle Emlyn which meets in the leisure centre during the winter on Friday evenings and Sunday afternoons and on the secondary school playing field on Friday evenings and Sunday mornings during the summer.
He has been competing in Archery for the past five years and will represent Dyfed for the fourth year running at the end of August at the Inter-counties championships at Pembrey Country Park.
Sam has also been asked to join the Wales Archery training academy this autumn to forward his training in the sport.
