A BELOW par performance by Crymych led to a 35-15 Division One West away defeat at the hands of second-placed Waunarlwydd while in Division Three West understrength Cardigan went down 61-27 at high-flying Gorseinon.

The Preselimen will be hoping for a return to form this Saturday when fourth in the table Cwmllynfell provide the opposition at Parc Lloyd Thomas.

Crymych trailed 20-3 after the opening 40 minutes, their points coming from a penalty by fullback Adam Phillips.

During the second period scrum-half Dyfan Dafydd and left winger Guto Griffiths got tries for the visitors and Adam Phillips landed one conversion but Waunarlwydd were in control for most of the time.

For the homesters there were tries for Rob Hill, Simon Hart, Dan Fox, Dominic Cabriani and Josh Hammett with Lee Evans getting the remainder of the points with the boot.

Promotion aspirants Gorseinon went in for nine tries against Cardigan who got three ties but failed to pick up a bonus point.

For the Swansea side who led 37-10 at half time Josh Simmonds led the try count with a hat-trick and outside half Mathew Stoneham contributed 21 points from a try, five conversions and two penalties.

The Cardis will need to show improvement this Saturday if they are to get anything from their home clash with leaders Tenby United.
