THE cause of Cardigan Castle was taken to the Welsh Assembly this week by Ceredigion's AM, Elin Jones.
In questions to economic development minister Andrew Davies she called for him to ensure that "every possible support" is shown by his government to Cadwgan Trust to restore the Castle.
"I made sure that the Assembly was aware of the unconditional support given to the Cardigan Castle project by Prince Charles on Monday," she told the Tivy-Side.
"It is clear to me that heritage projects can be a boost to local economies. The Assembly provided the funding to buy the castle and the minister now needs to ensure that all the stops are pulled out to realise its potential," she added.
In his reply Andrew Davies said the castle is the "jewel in the crown" of the town centre development.
"I have met the local trust with regard to the development of the castle. We are, through the mid-Wales division of my department, funding a feasibility study to look at how we can maximise the potential of Cardigan castle," he said.
