Ceredigion Assembly Member Elin Jones has branded Wales' First Minister as 'pathetic' following his failure to implement a fast-track recovery package for Cardigan.

"Our manufacturing base is disappearing in front of our eyes yet the government refuses to provide new opportunities for growth," she said. "Major employers are pulling out one by one and the response from Rodri Morgan's government has been pathetic."

Also in jeopardy is the Objective One programme, initially seen as a saving grace in south West Wales' economic decline. "The Objective One programme will be in deep trouble following these job cuts and despite the millions allocated to Wales, we are more in decline than growth," she said.

Now Ms Jones has called on Assembly Ministers Andrew Davies and Rhodri Morgan to issue a statement on a full recovery package for the region and a sound economic development strategy including government aid for training and attracting investment.
