After 18 months of campaigning and 900 years of history, Cardigan Castle came into public ownership on Monday, April 14, 2003.
Tivy-Side editor Aneurin Evans and deputy Sue Lewis were among those invited to see the gates of Castle Green House unlocked for the first time.
"It's been a fantastic campaign - and all down to the massive support we have had from readers," said Mr Evans.
