The contents of Cardigan Castle were knocked out of the bidding last weekend when owner Barbara Wood called a halt on their sale.
Despite their inclusion in Saturday's Stephen Jones auction at Henllan, an 11th-hour intervention by Miss Wood's legal representative resulted in the items being withdrawn from the sale.
"It's disappointing, however the items from Cardigan Castle represented just 18 pieces in an auction of over 580 lots," commented Mr Jones during Saturday's auction. "The furniture is currently being stored until we receive further instructions and we're hopeful that it will be re-admitted to our next auction on November 9."
The publicity surrounding Saturday's sale helped attract buyers and dealers from all over Wales who were prepared to pay premium prices for the items on offer. These included a Llanelly teapot and plate which sold for over £600, a Welsh dresser at £5,000 and a linen press for £1,300.
