Cardigan Castle could be open to the public - in a limited way - within the next few weeks.
Owner Ceredigion County Council is hoping to allow limited conducted access to parts of the castle grounds later this autumn once Health and Safety issues have been addressed and a licence for essential works has been obtained from the Countryside Council for Wales.
Following an initial appraisal of the current state of the grounds and buildings, conservation architects, Davies Sutton and Partners, will be carrying out detailed surveys this week of any urgent works that may be required at Castle Green Mansion.
An exhibition is being put together on the Castle and its history, which will shortly be put on display in the Guildhall upper market.
