CARDIGAN Castle received a major financial boost this week following Welsh culture minister Alan Pugh's announcement that it is to receive a grant of £60,000.
The money will be used to carry out emergency repairs to protect Castle Green House from the elements before further major works can be undertaken at a later date.
"The large amount of votes cast in the BBC 'Restoration' programme from Wales shows the passion that people here have in their heritage and in maintaining historic buildings for future generations to enjoy," he said.
"I am pleased that the Welsh Assembly government is able to help these buildings to continue to play an important role in their community."
Each of the nine Welsh projects to be named in the latest round of grants have been assessed by CADW, the historic agency of the Welsh Assembly government, while the awards were made on the recommendation of the Historic Buildings Council for Wales.
