A husband and wife will be exhibiting their art together in Cardigan for the first time.

Pam and Peter Rossiter's collective artwork will be on display at the Seagull Gallery, St Mary Street, Cardigan from March 27 to 30 and then from April 3 to 6.

Pamela Rossiter, previously an arts and crafts maker, has recently delved into abstract painting.

Her creations over the past ten months bear witness to her sense for colour and composition.

The displayed artwork reflects Pam's exploration and discovery during the process of art ‘making'; the artworks communicate a dialogue with their paint surface, encapsulating her individual responses.

On the other hand, Peter Rossiter's artwork primarily focuses on landscapes - inspired by scenes from the Pembrokeshire coastal path and occasionally from Mid and North Wales.

Some of them - like the Abercastle, Ceibwr Bay and Dinas Head landscapes - are made direct 'from life' whereas others are based on sketches or recollections.

Peter's signature style involves layering acrylic paint onto old photographic paper resulting in unique, distinctive effects.

The final images bear almost no connection to the underlining old images, however, curious hints of original shapes or colours bleed through the pigmented glazes.

Displayed artworks have been carefully chosen from a collection of hundreds crafted using this technique over the past three years.

Their combined exhibition offers a chance to see how two artists, connected in life, approach their crafts.
