CARDIGAN town councillors have taken steps to ensure the town’s popular historian will not remain a mere footnote in history.
They have agreed to a proposal by Cllr Stephen Greenhalgh to write a letter of recognition for Mr Johnson – known as ‘The History Man’, who is a leading authority on Cardigan Castle.
“Glen has carried out a vast amount of work over several years researching the history of Cardigan and establishing a library of historic papers at Cardigan Castle,” said Cllr Greenhalgh, whose proposal was unanimously accepted by his fellow councillors.
Mr Johnson has in the past also undertaken extensive research into the social history of north Pembrokeshire.
Back in 2017 he set himself the challenge of visiting all of Pembrokeshire’s 149 parish church sites in the space of a year – despite the fact he did not possess a driving licence.
