THESE four drivers have had their cases heard in court recently.

The defendants faced charges including driving while high on cocaine and cannabis, and drink driving.

Their cases were heard at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court.

Here’s a round-up of their cases.

OWEN HARRIES, 44, of Aberpoth, will return to court in the New Year having denied driving while high on cocaine.

Harries is accused of driving a Fiat on the A487 at Aberaeron on March 13. He is alleged to have recorded having 58 micrograms of cocaine per litre (µg/L) of blood, and 795µg/L of benzoylecgonine – the main metabolite of cocaine.

The legal limits – to exclude accidental exposure – for those drugs are 10µg/L and 50µg/L respectively.

Harries pleaded not guilty to two charges of drug driving at Llanelli Magistrates Court on August 31.

He appeared back in court on November 9, where a trial date was set for January 4 in Llanelli. He was granted bail until that date.

FFION LLOYD, 20, of Tegryn, near Llanfyrnach, admitted drink driving on the A484 in Newcastle Emlyn.

Lloyd was driving a Ford Fiesta on September 16. When breathalysed, she recorded having 56 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.

The defendant pleaded guilty at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on November 14.

She was banned from driving for 14 months, and was ordered to pay a £120 fine, £85 in costs and a £48 surcharge.

AARUN GIBBONS, 22, of Gorsgoch, has admitted driving while under the influence of cannabis.

Gibbons was driving a Volkswagen Polo on the B4334 between Brynhoffnant and Rhydlewis on April 2. He was alleged to have recorded, when tested, having 2.3 micrograms of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol per litre (µg/L) of blood. The legal limit is 2µg/L.

Gibbons changed his plea to guilty at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on November 16.

He was fined £200, and was ordered to pay £85 in costs and an £80 surcharge. He was also banned from driving for a year.

TRINITY TOFANI-SMITH, 21, of Bridge Street in Llanon, has been found guilty of driving while high on cannabis.

Tofani-Smith was alleged to have been driving a Volkswagen Golf on the A487 Penparcau Road on January 2. She is said to have, when tested, recorded having 2.1 micrograms of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol per litre (µg/L) of blood. The legal limit is 2µg/L.

She pleaded not guilty to a charge of drug driving on May 17, but was found guilty at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on November 16.
