SEVERAL people have recently been in court for drink and drug driving.

Daloni Jones, 26, of Bro Gwynfaen, Croeslan, admitted drug driving at Aberystwyth Magistrates Court on July 27.

Jones admitted driving a BMW 320D on March 6 on the A486 Croeslan, Llandysul, when over the drug drive limit with 147 micrograms of Benzoylecgonine in his blood. The legal limit is 50 micrograms.

Jones was banned from driving for 16 months and ordered to pay £120 fine and £85 costs.

Gary Evans, 35, of Bryn yr Eglwys, Lampeter, admitted three charges at Aberystwyth Magistrates Court on July 26.

He admitted one charge of drug driving when on February 20, he drove a motor vehicle on A487 Llanfarian, when over the drug drive limit with 2.3 micrograms of Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol in his blood. The legal limit is 2 micrograms.

He also admitted two charges of possession of a class B drug. Both charges related to the same date – February 20, 2023, with the first being for an amount of cannabis at Aberystwyth Police Station, and the second for 0.8g of cannabis at Bryn yr Eglwys, Lampeter.

He was banned from driving for 12 months and ordered to pay £120 fine for the drug driving, £120 fine for the second cannabis charge, £96 surcharge and £85 costs. The drugs were forfeited and destroyed.

Joseph Caswell, 45, of Llangoedmor, Cardigan, admitted drug driving at Aberystwyth Magistrates Court on August 3.

He admitted that on January 31, he drove a Nissan Pathfinder on the B4333 Newcastle Emlyn when over the drug drive limit with 4.4 micrograms of Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol in his blood. The legal limit is two micrograms.

He was banned from driving for 36 months and ordered to pay £120 fine, £48 surcharge and £85 costs.

Ashley Heggs, 32, of Brongest, Newcastle Emlyn, admitted drink driving at Aberystwyth Magistrates Court on August 2.

Heggs admitted driving a Vauxhall Astra on the B4333 near Beulah whilst over the drink drive limit with a breath alcohol level of 49 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 micrograms.

Heggs was banned from driving for 38 months and ordered to pay £400 fine, £160 surcharge and £85 costs.

Nia Evans, 50, of Parc y Felin, Lampeter, admitted drink driving at Aberystwyth Magistrates Court on August 3.

She admitted that on July 16, she drove a Volkswagen on the road from the junction with Market Street to Ceredigion training centre, Aberaeron, when over the drink drive limit with 102 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 micrograms.

She was banned from driving for 24 months and made subject of a 12-month community order which includes 60 hours of unpaid work. She also had to pay £114 surcharge and £85 costs.

Simon Pickering, 61, of Hafan yr Efail, Lampeter, admitted drug driving at Aberystwyth Magistrates Court on August 2.

He admitted that on March 19, he drove a vehicle on Boulevard de Saint Brieuc, Aberystwyth, when over the drug drive limit with 7 micrograms of Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol in his blood. The legal limit is 2 micrograms.

He was banned from driving for 12 months and ordered to pay £120 fine, £48 surcharge and £85 costs.

Richard Farmer, 47, of Highland Avenue, Bryncethin, Bridgend, admitted drug driving at Aberystwyth Magistrates Court on August 2.

He admitted that on March 23, he drove a Dacia Duster on the A486 Synod Inn, Llandysul, when over the drug drive limit with 2.9 micrograms of Delta-9-tetrahydrocanabinol in his blood. The legal limit is 2 micrograms.

He was banned from driving for 12 months and ordered to pay £346 fine, £138 surcharge and £85 costs.
