The challenge was called ‘Cei-diff’ and was done in aid of New Quay RNLI’s fundraising efforts for their new Shannon class all-weather lifeboat which was delivered in June. A total of £105,600 is needed to help cover costs for training and transportation.

Emyr Thomas, one of the riders and organiser, said: “As a keen water sports enthusiast and regular visitor to New Quay, I have seen first-hand how important a service the RNLI provides.

“Local people have fought hard to keep the New Quay station in service and the new lifeboat is a vital asset serving the whole of Cardigan Bay. As a group, we were keen to play a small part in supporting the fundraising efforts.”

The Cei-diff challenge was supported by Cardiff-based Vito Interiors & Building Services, and Seel & Co. More than £4,000 has been raised to date and donations are being accepted at https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/simon-stretch?utm_medium=email&utm_source=ExactTarget&utm_campaign=20230729_. Further match-funding is also being provided by Renishaw.
