AN event to learn more about a Ceredigion river and how volunteers are trying to look after it is being held in August.

The Save the Teifi River Pilgrims Walk will take place on Friday, August 11.

The walk will bring together people who are concerned about the river Teifi, want to learn more about what the Save the Teifi group do to protect it, and to raise funds for citizens science kits to allow it to be better monitored by the community.

Save the Teifi’s members include scientists, farmers, anglers, sea swimmers, kayakers, tourism providers, artists, councillors and many others who care about the river.

The walk will begin at 10.30am, when everyone attending meets at Llechryd Cricket Club. Bluestone Coffee will be in attendance with their coffee van if anyone would like to purchase a drink. There will be a welcome at 10.45am from Save the Teifi and a brief explanation from Professor Callum Firth on why this is taking place.

The walk will begin at 11am and there will be a stop at 11.40 for ice cream at Siop-y-Pentre, Cilgerran, before a second stop at Cilgerran Wildlife Park at 12.10pm.

There will be a picnic between 1pm and 2.30pm at St Dogmaels Footbal Club with some singing with Cat and an information stand about the Dirty Rivers campaign.

The walk will arrive at Poppit Sands around 3.30pm and there will be sand art with Rachel Shiamh. There will be beach cricket at 4pm and storytelling with Pamela Gaunt at 4.30pm.

The Teifi Valley Ukulele Group will perform at 5pm before poetry from a number of people including Nemi and Lenka. There will be food available from 6pm on the beach or behind the Crwst Café from Welsh Rebel Kitchen and live music at 7pm from Reel Rebels.

There will be more poetry and spoken word performances from 7.30pm, with Dave Urwin, Steve and Louise Treharne, Kittie Belltree, Rin Greaves and Jackie Biggs.

There will be drumming with Jules at 8pm and at 8.30pm there will be a fire on the beach or people can head to a local pub for live music.
