A THIRD severe weather warning in less than a week has been issued by the Met Office for the Cardigan area.

Following in the wakes of Storm Ali and Storm Bronagh this week, which brought heavy rain and gales, forecasters have issued a yellow alert for Sunday. There is the potential for another very windy spell with gusts up to 50mph and heavy rain from the north west across the area into early Monday.

A Met Office spokesman said: “During Sunday there is the potential for a deep area of low pressure to develop and track over the UK bringing both a spell of very strong winds and a swathe of persistent heavy rain.

“Precisely how this system will develop remains very uncertain, however there remains a chance of disruptive winds developing with England and Wales currently looking most at risk.

“Any strong winds should gradually clear eastwards early on Monday with more settled conditions looking likely to follow next week.

“There is a slight chance of some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs or through falling trees and branches, with longer journey times or cancellations as road, rail, air and ferry services are affected

“There is a small chance that injuries and danger to life could occur from large waves and beach material being thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads and properties.”
