THE recently-launched Cardigan town app is proving its value since its introduction earlier this year.

The app, backed by Cardigan’s town centre partnership and funded by a £5,000 local authority grant, was officially launched in May to promote what the town has to offer to both locals and visitors.

More than 600 people have loaded the app and it has been used more than 7,000 to search for information.

The top uses are places to eat and drink, annual events, heritage and history and places to shop.

A total of 58 per cent of those who downloaded the app were from England, with visitors also coming from as far afield as France, Germany, Netherlands, Italy and America.

The information and availability is useful to both traders and those seeking to further develop what Cardigan has to offer visitors.

The free app is available to download on App Store and Google Play store - search for Cardigan Town.

The app also dovetails with the free town centre WiFi and all the new car park information boards reference it through quick response bar codes that can be scanned by smart phones.

More than 2,000 devices have used the free WiFi in the past month, with July 20, 21, 23 and 24 the busiest.

The free Wifi is available from Cardigan Castle to Pendre, towards Theatre Mwldan and down Priory Street to roughly Crwst and Feidr Fair car park. It is also hoped to expand the scheme to Finch Square, Quay Street, Prince Charles Quay and the riverside area.
