CHARITIES and organisations in the Tivyside area could benefit from funding from the Co-op’s Local Community Fund.
The Co-op Local Community Fund gives money to local causes, helping to bring people together.
“We give preference to projects run by small, local organisations that make a real difference to people in their community,” said Ruth Rowland, who has been appointed as Pioneer Member to promote the scheme in the Newcastle Emlyn area.
Ruth is a familiar face to many around the area as the owner of Ruby’s yard and she is keen to raise awareness of what is available to locals groups through the Cop-op scheme.
“The latest application round is now open and we are looking for three new groups in the area to support,” said Ruth.
“Members of the Co-op spend their money in the local store and a percentage of that is reinvested in the Local Community Fund and the chosen groups within a 15-mile radius.
“Every quarter, we pay out the money that has been built up and members can go on line and choose which cause it goes to.
“We need local groups to be aware of what is on offer and to apply.”
Co-op members have raised more than £20m for local causes over the years, benefiting thousands of projects
