A CHANCE to study the First World War tribunals is being offered to residents in the Tivyside area by the Cardigan branch of the Dyfed Family History Society.
Experts from the National Library of Wales will be at Cardigan Castle on Monday, February 26 from 2pm to give workshops on studying the tribunal archives.
Conscription was introduced in 1916 during the war and the tribunals provide a record of appeals against being called up. The government order them to be destroyed after the war but Cardiganshire kept theirs and it is the only one now available in Wales.
Free tutorials will be given to groups of between 10 and 15 people who are interested in learning more about local history or possibly family members.
Contact the society secretary at alma.stanford@hotmail.co.uk to book a place.
