A CALL on a mobile phone while driving has cost a 62-year-old Cardigan motorist more than £200.

David Julian Evans, of Bears Den, Gotrel Estate, was spotted using the phone while driving a Toyota Hilux on the A487 at Tremain.

Evans, who pleaded guilty under the single justice procedure, was fined £106 by magistrates at Aberystwyth Justice Centre and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

But the bench did not endorse his licence due to the shortness of the distance driven, the very low speed he was travelling and the duration of the call being only seconds.
