THE circus is coming to town in Cardigan at Small World Theatre – and you can be part of it.

The theatre is launching regular aerial circus skills training starting in October. It has been the organisation’s ambition to rig the venue for aerial circus for some time and already the courses are proving very popular, with a long waiting list.

Director Ann Shrosbree, said: “Small World Theatre is proud to be able to offer circus training opportunities to young people and adults. We hope Cardigan will be as enthusiastic as we are as the project ‘lifts off’. This is a dream come true.

“Without the help of a dedicated group of local people who held regular fundraising events to buy specialist equipment, this exciting development would not be possible.

“Thanks so much to all those who gave their time to raise funds, and to those that supported them on their imaginative fundraising ventures such as sponsored cartwheeling, music and food events.”

The scheme has been made possible through a building project to extend the facilities at the venue, part-funded by The European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development: Investing in Rural Areas.

It is hoped to stage classes for mothers and toddlers, adults and young people.

“Everyone wants to fly,” said Ann. “In the longer term we would also like to work with disabled people and people with mobility issues. Imagine being able to fly if you could not walk.”

Aerialist Déa Neile-Hopton from The Ridukulus Experiment will be leading and developing the training.
