WHEN Carwen Davies decided to get fit and lose weight before she turned 50 next year, she never thought that eight months on she would have lost over three stone and would be selling her entire wardrobe.

But that’s exactly what has happened to Carwen who has decided to organise a charity clothes sale at New Quay Hall with proceeds going toward the appeal to keep the all-weather lifeboat in New Quay.

When Carwen enquired about hiring the hall on Saturday, October 28, she was overjoyed that so many local organisations and individuals wanted to support her day.

To date, she has more than 15 various stalls as well as support from the local WI who will be making teas and coffees.

“I’ve lost the weight myself by eating less and moving more. Portion control is also important as well as common sense,” said Carwen.

“I have type 2 diabetes and I’m hoping by losing more weight I can reverse the diabetes as I really don’t want to be on tablets for the rest of my life.

“I surprised myself really that I’ve lost the weight since January but I made the decision then that I didn’t want to be fat at 50 – I want to be fit so I can live longer.”

Stalls for the charity day include toy stalls, arts and crafts as well as clothes.
