CARDIGAN River and Food Festival drew a big crown to the town on Saturday to celebrate the quality and diversity of local and independent food, drink and craft producers in the area.

Now in its 19th year, more than 6,000 people attended the annual event held at Quay Street car park.

There was something for everybody, with more than 70 trade stands offering everything food-wise from award-winning cheeses to cakes, fish and beer.

Live music, cookery demonstrations and entertainment on the river, including coracle racing and the annual longboat race all made it a great day out for all the family.

Julian Beynon-Lewis, of organisers Menter Aberteifi, was delighted with the turnout.

“The figures look to be pretty similar to last year and everyone had a good day,” he said.

“The traders went away happy, with quite a few sold out before the end. We are a not-for-profit organisation and the aim is to attract visitors to the town and promote local producers.

“We have a pretty good formula for a one-day festival but there are always things you see that you can think you can improve on. Next year will be out 20th anniversary and it would be nice to do something a bit special to mark that.”
