A TIVYSIDE woman has launched her own nutritional therapist business at the age of 61.

Margaret Crook, from Bridell, has taken the plunge and decided to set up her Recipe for Health business, offering dietary advice, workshops and her own cakes and food.

"People don't realise how important the right food is; you really are what you eat,” said Margaret, a grandmother of five, who is grateful for the help she has had from Cardigan’s 4CG to get her venture off the ground.

“If you're eating the wrong foods your body will tell you but we tend to ignore its cries and suffer the ailments, we don't have to. All too often I hear people exclaim that a health problem is 'in the family' or 'in my genes' with the belief that they can do nothing about it.

“By making often just simple lifestyle changes, they can either reduce the chances of following family health issues or learn to manage the problem and therefore help alleviate the effects of that condition."

Margaret insists that eating wisely need not cost a fortune or be time-consuming and everyone from young children to the elderly can benefit from nutritional therapy.

She has already held a couple of workshops and demonstrations and has been selling her cakes at Cardigan Guildhall market on Thursday and at Newport market on Mondays.

“I myself am gluten intolerant and that has made me think how I eat and would be delighted to help other people provided they have no other underlying medical conditions,” said Margaret.

“It’s all about giving people the incentive to eat well.”
