EVER wondered what it would be like to fly like a kingfisher or be part of a dolphin pod? If yes, then you’ll go wild for the Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales and Island Friends’ new Wild Wales Adventures and Legends campaign.

This innovative project includes two family-friendly 360 degree virtual reality (VR) wildlife experiences -Dolphin Dive and Flight of the Kingfisher - plus a Wild Wales wildlife spotter’s guide and three downloadable wildlife adventure trails.

Gina Gavigan, marketing and development manager for the Wildlife Trust said: “We are looking forward to our wonderful Welsh wildlife taking centre stage for the Visit Wales Year of Legends campaign.

“The Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales manages approximately 80 nature reserves; from ancient woodlands to breath-taking islands. Residents and visitors to Wales really are spoilt for choice when looking for a wild time.

“Our project aims to not only offer unique experiences via VR technology and a selection of sustainable trails but also aims to promote WTSWW’s important conservation work and vital research to Wales and the UK.

“The Dolphin Dive VR adventure is a fantastic way of seeing these amazing animals without causing any disturbance. Our Cardigan Bay Marine Wildlife Centre, New Quay is also a great place to visit and learn all about our wonderful marine wildlife.”

Lucy Griffiths, author of the Island Friends children’s stories, said: “It’s great to be part of a project that uses cutting-edge technology to spread the word about the amazing wildlife adventures to be had here in Wales.

“So many people think they have to go overseas to see world-class wildlife spectacles, but these VR experiences really showcase the incredible creatures we have here on our doorstep.”

The project has been funded via the Welsh Government’s Tourism Product Innovation Fund to attract more visitors.
