Cardigan Castle has just celebrated a big weekend of music as the town came together to enjoy a series of live performances held in the Castle grounds.

The events, which were co-promoted by Cardigan Castle and Theatr Mwldan, were part of a nine-strong series of live events, from comedy to circus, which have been running over the course of the summer, and have so far attracted over 3,650 attenders.

Over 1,200 revellers passed through the castle gates during the course of the weekend.

Audiences enjoyed entertainment from FFUG, reggae legends Talisman and the From The Jam led by Bruce Foxton on Friday, August 12.

Saturday night saw Newcastle Emlyn choir Cor y Wiber open for Only Men Aloud, who performed a magnificent set of classic Welsh hymns and popular numbers.

Their performance culminated in their anthemic ‘You Raise Me Up’ which had the whole Castle on its feet.

Sue Lewis, Facilities Officer at the castle, said: “We have had tremendous feedback from visitors and it was wonderful to see the castle site alive and buzzing.”

Visitors and local alike have also recently enjoyed the spectacular BLOCK from NoFit State Circus and Motionhouse Dance and a series of outdoor theatre events from Cardigan regulars Illyria which took place on the castle site.

Mayor Clive Davies said: “I visited local traders in town on Saturday to get the response to the Cardigan Castle concerts. Martin Radley, Chair of the town traders, told me that it was a great draw to the town and helped increase the footfall to his members on the High Street. I spoke to few people on the street and got the same reaction to what these annual events bring to the town. There was a noticeable buzz about town."
