Retired Paramedic Pete Barker took to the skies in a speedy flight for charity.

To celebrate his 65th birthday he took a leap of faith in a sky dive for the British Heart Foundation on February 27.

Pete is Chairman of the Cardigan BHF branch, which he formed 29-years-ago and has helped to raise thousands of pounds over the years for the charity.

He arrived at the Swansea Airport, with his family and was given a training session and safety procedures that he would need to know for his jump.

Leaping out of the plane at 1200 ft with a tandem instructor he travelled at 150 mph for around eight seconds.

Experiencing fantastic views of Swansea city and the bay, the main chute was then deployed and the speed of decent was reduced to around 30mph.

Pete steered across the open country side towards the airport before they came back down to the ground with a bump.

Pete has been collecting donations for the past three months and has managed to raise £5,600 so far exceeding his £5000 target.

He is now on a mission to reach a round figure of £6000.
