Theatr Mwldan’s annual outdoor theatre events with Illyria will be taking up a new home at Cardigan Castle this summer.

They’re back with another comic, but romantic summer operetta to leave you with a song in your heart when they perform Iolanthe on Wednesday, July 29 at 7.30pm.

When fairy Iolanthe falls in love with a mortal, her death sentence under fairy law is commuted to banishment by the Fairy Queen, but 25 years later her son falls in love with the Lord Chancellor of

England’s ward.

The Lord Chancellor is Iolanthe’s husband, who, believing her dead, intends to marry his ward himself. If Iolanthe lets her son marry his love she devastates her husband, but if she tells her husband she is alive then her original death penalty stands.

It is hilarious and surprisingly topical satire, poking fun at Love, Politics and Britishness.

Tickets for Iolanthe on Wednesday, July 29 at Cardigan Castle are £15 (£13)and £11 for Children. They are available to book from Theatr Mwldan’s Box Office on 01239 621200 or online at www.mwldan.co.uk
