More than £2,000 was raised for the Alzheimer’s Society when crowds flocked to Newport’s gardens last week.
Popular cafe Blas at Fronlas joined forces with Friends of Newport and Nevern to raise funds at the well attended event in the heart of the town on Wednesday afternoon.
Music was provided by members of the Dhogie Band and other attractions included stalls, a barbecue, lucky dip, splat the rat and guess the age of a teddy bear from Ty Twt Dolls House and Toy Museum.
Organisers are grateful to local businesses and members of the community who supported the event.
The total amount raised was £2,141, and a cheque was presented to Alzheimer’s Society community fundraiser Alan Drury at Blas at Fronlas on Friday morning.
Mr Drury said: “We are extremely grateful for this. It’s great to have support like this because dementia affects so many people.
“It’s great when a community comes together to make an event like this a success.”
