AFTER five weeks of searching, Susan Glorney of Tegryn has finally found her heroine.

Susan, an experienced jockey went on a fun ride with her coloured gelding Tobi around the Poppit area near Cardigan and little did she know that she would need the assistance of a Cardigan Coastguard later that day – and one she can’t praise or thank enough.

Following a nasty accident where she dislocated and broke her shoulder, Susan had a long wait for the rescue crews to find her and her horse.

"The rescue crews, ambulance and a coastguard came to my rescue and as I left in the ambulance, my horse broke free and galloped after me. Amazingly, the wonderful coastguard, Sarah Phillips, caught my horse and rode him four miles to my lorry to take him home.

"I was truly amazed and so grateful that she not only helped me, but my horse too. I then spent five weeks trying to find her, and finally, I did last week.

"We met up and I was so pleased to thank her personally. Turns out she is a horse trainer, but my boy sure got lucky that day.

"I screamed for the ambulance to stop when I saw he was galloping after me, but then suddenly Sarah was on board," explained Susan who was delighted to meet Sarah again.

When Susan makes a full recovery, her plan is to do a sponsored ride on behalf of Cardigan Coastguards.

She added: "Sarah went over and beyond that day. I know coastguards help humans but to save a horse’s life too. If it wasn't for her bravery and love of horses, I don't even want to imagine what could have happened to him. I will be forever thankful to her."
