A BEACON was lit in Aberporth last week to mark the anniversary of VE Day.
The Royal British Legion organised a commemorative event as part of the seventieth anniversary celebrations.
The beacon was one of 200 in a chain of beacons lit across the UK - recreating the scene in 1945 when people up and down the country lit hundreds of bonfires and beacons to celebrate that the Second World War was over in Europe.
Mary Bott, who was a land girl in Aberporth, lit the beacon and people were encouraged to join together and bring a picnic and drinks to celebrate VE day.
The lighting up ceremony was watched by about 50 people from the village.
