Ysgol y Preseli triumphed as young dancers from across Pembrokeshire took to the floor this month for the annual 5x60 Pembrokeshire Schools street dance competition.
More than 50 pupils from secondary schools across the county strutted their stuff at Haverfordwest Leisure Centre.
Pupils from key stage 3 (11 to 14 year-olds) in all eight secondary schools competed in two categories.
Lucy Harding from Sir Thomas Picton was the solo winner while Ysgol y Presli won the team event.
Organised by Sport Pembrokeshire - the sports development arm of Pembrokeshire County Council - the 5x60 project aims to encourage secondary school pupils to take part in extra-curricular activities while getting fit at the same time.
Matthew Freeman, Active Young People Manager, said that as part of the project school dance clubs had been set up in all the County’s secondary schools and were very popular.
“As well as helping youngsters keep fit, dance clubs also give pupils a chance to be creative- for instance many teams at the competition choreographed their own routines helped by young sports ambassadors or older students,” he said
“We’re now hoping to extend the competition next year to allow younger primary school pupils to enter.”
The dance competition, which is sponsored by Valero, was judged by instructors Helen McLoughlin and Georgia Osborne.
