On the 16th August, over 30 eager horse-riders together with numerous followers congregated at the Daffodil Inn at Penrhiwllan to take part in the Cardigan Charity Fundraising Appeal sponsored horse fun ride in aid of Muscular Dystrophy. The ride was lead and the route planned by Delyth Hutchins and ably assisted by Emma Jones.

Before leaving the Daffodil, mine hosts, Mr and Mrs Matthews supplied refreshments and Rianne Cruickshank was awarded the Trophy for Best Turned Out Horse & Rider, this was judged by Mark Hutchins, who himself suffers from Muscular Dystrophy.

The sun shone as the riders left the village and made their way onto fields and bridleways, before having a brief stop for some further refreshments before making their way back to the Daffodil at Penrhiwllan. Upon their return, having had an enjoyable day, everyone was ready for a warm meal kindly provided by Mr and Mrs Matthews of the Daffodil.

Summing up the day, Delyth Hutchins said “this is a charity very close to my heart as my husband suffers from Muscular Dystrophy. The charity has helped him so much by providing some funding towards a new wheelchair and giving him back some independence. I felt that I wanted to help in some way and put something back into the charity by helping local people with Muscular Dystrophy”.

Heartfelt thanks to Delyth Hutchins for all her efforts in making the day so successful, to the Daffodil Inn for their welcoming hospitality, Mrs Ella Cook who allowed vehicles to be parked in her field, the owners of the land who allowed us access onto their property as well as all the people who donated raffles and supported the event.

The Cardigan Charity Fundraising Appeal’s next event is a Karaoke Evening to be held at the Cellar Bar, Cardigan on the 5th December in aid of Cardigan Guide Dogs for the Blind. Please come along and enjoy the evening and also support us. For further details please contact Paul Daview on 07971 469 831 or e-mail pdx191@gmail.com.
