Family and many friends in the Cardigan area and further afield were shocked to hear of the death, which occurred suddenly at her home on Friday, of Valerie Wilson, 10 Priory Street, Cardigan, aged 60.

A native of the town, she worked for ten years in Tain in Scotland before returning home in the late 1980's to help her brothers Alan and David run the former Wilson's mini market in High Street.

Of a quiet, kind and cheerful disposition, she recently worked at Siop Cardi in Priory Street and Threshers in Pendre, where she was hugely popular with customers.

She was the daughter of Betty and the late Glyn, sister of Alan and David, sister-in-law of Frieda and Maggie and an aunt and great aunt.

The funeral is being held on Thursday, January 25 with a public service at Parc Gwyn Crematorium at 2.30pm. There are family flowers only, but donations in lieu, if desired, to Ty Agored Animal Sanctuary or British Heart Foundation, being received by Colin Phillips, of Jenkins & Phillips, Funeral Directors, Hyfrydle, Gwbert Road, Cardigan.
