ICT students from Coleg Ceredigion Cardigan were recently given a fascinating tour of one of the pioneering centres for sustainability and green technologies.
As part of their sustainability studies, the students visited the Centre for Alternative Technology in Pantperthog, near Machynlleth. Established in 1973, the centre has developed from a small disused quarry established itself as Europe’s leading eco centres staffed by 90 permanent members of staff and volunteers.
The tour began with a presentation by Gabi Ashton, Educational Administrator at the Centre, where students were given an introduction into the history and development of the Centre. Students were then got the opportunity to view the wide and varied interactive displays and to experience environmental ideas and technologies in a practical way.
Marion Phillips, ICT Tutor ac Coleg Ceredigion said: “This educational visit provided students with opportunities to gather information and ideas that could be applied to a number of units, such as Website Production and Computer Animation, within their qualification.”
