Ceredigion MP Mark Williams has supported two schemes which are leading the way in Ceredigion in preventing fuel poverty through energy efficiency.

The Keep Cosy Home Energy Project and Cymdogion Cynnes (The Warm Neighbour Scheme) are being highlighted as part of the Cold Homes Week campaign this week..

Mr Williams said: "Ceredigion has one of the highest levels of fuel poverty in Wales, and these schemes I have heard more about today show innovative ways to address the basics of energy efficiency. We all need to keep comfortable and warm, without wasting money."

Mr WIlliams is also supporting the Energy Bill Revolution, a campaign running during Cold Homes Week, to re-direct carbon taxes towards investment in insulation and energy saving measures in the home. Both the Ceredigion initiatives encourage people to look after themselves as well as supporting each other through sharing information.

Ceredigion’s Warm Neighbour scheme, Cymdogion Cynnes, run by Ceredigion County Council, aims to help residents in Ceredigion by bringing information on energy grants and schemes available together into one pack. The information will help ensure everyone stays safe, warm and well during the winter. If you, or someone you know, is suffering due to the cold go to www.ceredigion.gov.uk/healthchallenge and download the Cymdogion Cynnes pack or contact Siwan Davies 01545 572273 for more information.

The Keep Cosy initiative, run by Ymlaen Ceredigion, is free to anyone in privately owned or rented accommodation and includes a visit from a Home Energy Expert Coach.
