New bus services are coming into force on Ceredigion's roads.

Following Arriva's decision to terminate the 20 service between Aberystwyth and Cardiff, the 40 and 40C services between Aberystwyth and Carmarthen and the 50 service between Aberystwyth and Synod Inn, via New Quay, Lewis Coaches (Llanrhystud), First Cymru and Richards Brothers will be providing replacement services until the end of June 2014.

Cllr Alun Williams, Ceredigion County Council Cabinet Member for Transport, Waste and Carbon Management, said: “I am very grateful to all the local companies who tendered for the routes, to the Council officers from Ceredigion and Carmarthenshire who have been working very hard behind the scenes and to the Welsh Government for its financial assistance.”

Elin Jones AM added: “I’m delighted that local companies have stepped up to maintain these essential services.”

Paul Hodges, Transport Manager for Lewis Coaches, said: “This is a boost for businesses in Ceredigion, and we hope it’s the beginning of a long-term service in the county.”
