Pembrokeshire residents are being reminded to take care when they dispose of sharp objects in their waste.
The warning comes after the discovery of five knives in a black bag put out for collection last week.
The largest of the knives, which were unwrapped, was eight inches long.
“These knives were highly dangerous and could have caused serious injury to a refuse collector,” said Councillor Huw George, Cabinet Member for Environmental and Regulatory Services.
“We urge people ensure that they do not simply dispose of sharp objects in their rubbish.
“If they have unwanted broken glass, pottery or any sharp objects, then they must make sure they are securely wrapped in layers of newspaper or cardboard.”
