A PACKED auction room at the Feathers Hotel, Aberaeron, witnessed brisk bidding for Meinigwynion Farm and Lands following the tragic passing of both Sue and Ronald Jones earlier this summer.
The 323 Acres was offered in 5 Lots with the main farm of 138 Acres selling at £1.25m to near neighbours, the Evans family of Rhydsais. Lot 2 comprised 52 Acres of prime quality land selling for £560K (£10,700 per acre) and Lot 3, consisting of 85 Acres, reaching £630K.
A 13 ¾ Acre block of land on the edge of Cross Inn village reached £170K with the final Lot of 35 Acres adjoining reaching £350K.
Auctioneer Malgwyn Evans of J.J. Morris commented “This was the first sizeable farm to have come onto the open market for some years and just showed the demand for land in this part of Wales. Each lot sold to local buyers which reflects the confidence farmers have in agriculture.”
