ALL the world's a stage - or at least it will be for a mammoth fundraising venture being undertaken by Ysgol Uwchradd Aberteifi.

The school is planning a Bardathon - a continuous reading of all of Shakespeare's works - to raise money towards a £50k fundraising appeal for a new state of the art gym.

The bardathon will include every word the playwright ever wrote - including sonnets and poetry.

Organisers will be approaching individuals and local organisations to sign them up for the event which will kick off next month and run over a week and a half.

The event will tie in with the school's literacy programme and hopefully involve the whole community.

The event will be staged at Brethyn Cartref - the empty shop has been kindly loaned to the school by owner Chris Purnell.

"We are fairly sure that a reading of Shakespeare's works has never been attempted locally," said one of the fundraisers Cllr Catrin Miles.

"It will hopefully be fun event - maybe we can get local groups to enact some of the plays."

The school is also looking for Welsh translations of the plays - if you can help contact Cllr Miles at catrin.miles@ceredigion.gov.uk or ring the Tivy-Side on 01239 614343.

If you want to sign up to take part in the reading use the same contacts above.
