As a result of the PACT (Partners and Communities Together) meeting in December, police in Cardigan have been asked by members of the community to focus on issues relating to cycling on footpaths.
People in Cardigan town centre who cycle on pavements can potentially cause nuisance and a danger to pedestrians.
In addition, cycling contrary to the one-way system in the town could also have serious implications for both motorists and cyclist.
Police would like to remind people that it is an offence to cycle on a footpath and also to contravene traffic signs, and doing so could result in the cyclist being issued with a Fixed-Penalty Notice.
Sergeant Alison Rees said: “We are urging cyclists to refrain from cycling in the areas specified and to demonstrate restraint and responsibility to pedestrians. This activity has the potential to cause serious injury.”
