A letter from B. Lloyd, Port Lion, Haverfordwest

Dear Editor

The figures put forward by the Welsh government in support of this move state that 10 deaths and 1800 injuries were caused in 30mph zones last year. This is WRONG.

These figures were caused by drivers doing MORE than 30mph in all zones and included all accidents, drink and drug driving, stolen vehicles and cyclists.

The deaths and injuries caused by drivers in 30mph zones complying with the speed limit were so low as to be negligible.

At 20mph, cars will be much more polluting than at normal speeds. Another consideration is that after driving at 20mph cars will speed up to make up time and cause more accidents.

As usual, with the Cardiff cabal, nothing is thought through.

B Lloyd, Port Lion, Haverfordwest.
