Dear Editor, Your correspondent Brian Mark is a director of both 4CG and Awel Deg. He tells us he has been "chosen by 4CG shareholders to develop local renewable energy projects". I attended an early 4CG meeting. No mention was made to potential shareholders that wind turbines were involved. Several angry 4CG shareholders have told me they were unaware they were signing up to wind energy when they joined,so they will now leave the co-operative since it is a cover for wind energy.
What arrant nonsense to say that the 220 ft Awel Deg turbine will attract tourists. Visitors to Cardigan Island Coastal Farm Park in Gwbert and those with caravans and holiday homes around Gwbert are completely opposed to it, as evidenced by letters to the TivySide. Besides, if the Welsh Government's hare-brained, ruinous TAN 8 wind energy proposals for 1000 gigantic 475 feet wind turbines [ 50 ft short of Blackpool Tower ] go ahead, large areas of Wales [ only 8015 sq miles in area !] will soon be wrecked.....to supply huge English cities with trifling sporadic electricity !! There has been no wind to speak of for 2 weeks, so we would have had a fortnight without electricity if we relied on these follies !
When Westminster Tory MPs shortly cut the wind subsidies to save rural England from similar desecration, wind energy companies will go bust, leaving rusting monstrosities all over Wales, just like California !!
Brian Mark clearly does not care who is made ill by this wind turbine.Your other correspondent, Gwen Burkhardt, had to sell her farm , a mile from the three Blaenbowi wind turbines outside Newcastle Emlyn ,because the inaudible infra-sound made her ill.
This 220 ft machine will stand on ground 290 ft above sea level. With an accumulative height of 510 feet, it will be 85 ft above the Coast Guard hut on top of Cemaes Head [ in a National Park??] ; about 300 feet above Cardigan Golf Clubhouse and 385 ft above Stepside Farm near Cardigan. So it will be clearly visible ....and audible... from all directions !
I see they even want a wind turbine at Llandysul's new school. I suggest readers ....and parents....put "exploding Danish wind turbine" and "wind turbine disasters" into Google and YouTube before they support these dangerous, sporadic follies.
